Although I'm late to this question. I do have to add Four Weddings and a Funeral is a tad underrated. I am also a great fan of Notting Hill. Hell, I'm a bit of Hugh Grant fan and even enjoyed Two Week Notice. Not sure if that just ruined all my credibility there. One more that I enjoyed quite a bit was also a Ryan Reynolds vehicle called Definitely Maybe.

I second that.

Now strictly speaking romantic comedies, I tend to ignore virtually everything in that realm, my romantic films always need to have a drama element or quirky think outside the box type sensibilities i.e. Her, Silver Linings Playbook, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, and one of my all-time favourite films, Punch-Drunk Love. But one that I genuinely have a soft spot for was always Serendipity. I pretty much always give John Cusack the benefit of the doubt, the guy's awesome. Kate Beckinsale is charming and gorgeous, goes without saying really. By the end, I'm really rooting for them.

When Harry Met Sally is the perennial classic. It is a true rom com with pretty interesting characters. You might also want to check out Lars and the Real Girl, Punch Drunk Love(more of a Dramedy for sure), Sleepless in Seattle, and my personal favorite, Amelie.

Just this year Enough Laid with James Gandolfini was an awesome romantic comedy. I would kind of put George Clooney's Up in the Air as a really good romantic 'dramedy' also!

There are some that I do indeed enjoy a lot, including the ones that are mentioned a lot such as Love Actually. Outside of "chick flicks", there's also Silver Linings Playbook, Pillow Talk, heck, even WALL-E is a wonderful romance story hidden within a Sci-Fi / Animated film. ;)

I've been wanting to submit this question to Chris and Brian for ages, but just have never gotten around to it, so I thought I'd post here! (Maybe they'll chime in!)

Like most men in a committed relation ship, I have seen a large number of the mainstream chick flicks with my significant other. I have honestly found everyone to be completely boring, predictable, and downright demeaning in a lot of cases.

Are there any romantic comedies that are actually considered great films? Or are studios too interested at pumping out Chick Flicks for as cheap as possible to have any real stand out movies?

Just wanted to see what the best of the best are. Thanks!
